In March of 2011, the Merlion was transformed into a hotel as part of Singapore's 2011 Biennale.

The temporary “Merlion Hotel” was open for overnight stays from March 9th until May 15th of 2011 and only a very few lucky guests and tourists were allowed to visit or stay in this room.
